Volunteer Opportunities at the Respiratory Health Association

The Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC) relies on individuals like you to help in the fight against lung disease! RHAMC volunteers assist with special events, advocacy efforts, educational programs, and more.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Get involved in our COPD Initiative
Volunteers are needed to participate in community spirometry screenings as well as provide assistance at various COPD-related events.

Become a Health Ambassador in your Community
Volunteers are trained to be health ambassadors, and then go out into their community and provide valuable health information, education, and resources at various events.

Educate youth, parents and educators about tobacco and asthma
Asthma and tobacco educators are trained to facilitate any of our education programs. Volunteers facilitate classes at schools and community locations throughout Cook County.

 

Get involved in our Lung Cancer Initiative
Join our efforts to raise awareness and support of increased lung cancer research and funding.

Become an Advocate
You can become an advocate by making phone calls and writing letters to legislators, visiting policymakers, and providing testimony at hearings and other public events. Call us at (312) 243-2000 to be added to our E-Advocacy list to receive regular emails about lung health issues.

Volunteer for RHAMC Special Events and Conferences Volunteers are the backbone of all RHAMC special events. Special events such as Hustle Up the Hancock, or Catch Your Breath Conference and Reception create awareness about lung health issues and raise funds for research and education.

Join the 2008 Lung Power Crew

Join our Women and Lung Health Initiative
Become a part of this exciting new initiative designed to raise money and awareness for women's lung health! Volunteers are needed to assist in event preparation and speak to groups about women and lung health issues.

Share your story
Has your life been touched by lung disease? Do you feel passionate about clean air or lung health? Volunteers are needed to speak at public presentations, testify at press conferences and legislative hearings, and share your story in one of our newsletters.

Support our work in the office
Office volunteers are needed to assist in a variety of administrative tasks including data entry, word processing, filing, and general support.
